Boil 3 cups of water in a large steamer pot.
Boil additional water in a teakettle.
Pour the rice into a medium size stainless steel bowl
that fits easily in your steamer.
I use 8 inch wide 3 inch tall stainless steel bowl.
Rinse the rice twice with tap water.
Once both the steamer and kettle water are boiling, place the bowl of rice into the steamer.
Pour hot water into the rice bowl, covering the rice with ½ - 1 inch of water
Cover and steam for 40 minutes.
Serving: Use a cake spatula to loosen the rice from the bowl.
Flip the bowl onto a serving dish. (see picture)

Take note:
2 cups of uncooked rice make about 6 cups of cooked rice.
The amount of rice can be adjusted
as needed for a smaller or larger batch.
The bowl should be less than half
full before cooking, as the rice
absorbs a lot of water and expands.
Alternatives:
Long grain white rice can be used instead of the jasmine rice.
